after charley...

Spent most of the day cleaning up after Charley, as well as doing a few repairs. There are trees down and uprooted everywhere, as well as signs, a neighbor's POD (portable storage system) which dumbled its way down the street along with it's contents, pool covers that have been torn to shreds, shingles decorating the streets like patchwork...

We are lucky to be part of the few who still have energy and water. We've been told to keep off of the streets and use water wisely (moreso because of the pumps having lost energy, and to prevent sewer backups and such.)

There's a thunder storm coming thru right now, windy and very wet. Haven't been able to make phone calls since yesterday, particularly any local ones; reached both my parents and my inlaws in Puerto Rico to let her know we're ok.

All my friends here in Orlando, I'm thinking about you -just can't make any calls.

Jen, thanks for being my out of state contact in case things got worse for us or we had any sort of emergency - bunches of thanks!

Thanks to you all for your warm thoughts, wishes, and emails that we would remain safe. It made it so much easier to ride out the hurricane.

Thanks for keeping in touch!

Glad to hear you're ok. I left you a message on your cell but was guessing you wouldn't be able to get it until later. We're fine here, too, complete with power and water. *hugs* to all of you.

glad to know you are OK too, Cranky! i've been trying to call you, but i have no signal and when a call does finally conect, signal is lost. if it weren't for being online... so glad i have electricity and water too.

thanks monique! it was a wild ride; i wish i would've been able to shoot video. the only video i was able to shoot is in the digital camera, and i don't know how to upload that (not that you can see anything much, was too dark) you probably only see the camera shaking due to the gusty winds.
