Main hard drive failure
The servers where I host were down, and it took, along with it, all entries and comments from Feb 2nd - to date. My host restored from their backups, which only covers till the 2nd- and no, I didn't back up this past week.
Sucks.
It's like 'access denied' to some of my own memories.
I always write my entries out in a word processing program and save them to my own hard drive (and later archive on CD) before I upload to my host server. That way I still have a record of my memories and one day I'll have all the material I need for a best-selling "tell all" biography, LOL!
Seriously, it keeps the writings with you, which is where you want them for a variety of reasons.
Unfortunately, that doesn't address the loss of comments that you might want to hold on to.

once when updating my weblog program i lost an entire year. i still can't find it, but there isn't much i can do :(
