Weekend roundup

Been in denial since last Friday, but I can't deny it any longer. So here goes: Achoo! I'm sick. I need to rest.

There, that wasn't so hard after all.

Even though my plans for this weekend were a bust, which is sad because it was a perfect weekend, I did receive some wonderful news. I have both online and offline aquaintances interested in a couple of my paintings. That alone is a most excellent and wonderful experience! More on the art scene soon. :o)

Also I received snail-mail notice from Poetry.com that the poem I submitted is to be published Summer 2005 (?), in a compendium titled Eternal Portraits. I'd love to learn who else has been selected for this or any previous collection, because I have a few questions. Seems that anyone selected to be published must purchase their own copy of the collection. Hm. You'd think they'd gift the author with one, no? And oh, we don't get paid for it. Niiice. If that's the deal, well them I believe it might be easier to self publish a personal collection. Many things to ponder.

I hope your weekend was illness free and enjoyable! Even with my sniffles I have things to be very happy about. Now, I must go drool over some pictures of a beautiful and handsome 6 month old cutie named Sam. ;o)

Every poem I've submitted was selected for publication. I quit submitting because I'm tired of not getting paid for my work, and insteqd being asked to pay for it. But that's just me. E-mail me if you are interested in akinga look.

Hey get well! I've been out of commission in my decresendo, and I'm trying my comeback.

I hope you feel better soon! Getting out of denial is the first step to recovery. :->

I don't know anything about Poetry.com but from your post and Square1's comment it sounds like a lot of those "phony" publication Co. where they accept everything they get and a) don't do any promotion for you and b) ask you to pay for everything. You shouldn't be paying for anything much less the issue your poem is being featured in!

Good for you. I can draw but not paint. Try to rest and think happy.

feel better.

Poetry.com seems to be an organization that makes it way on the purchases of materials, trips and awards. under the pretense of publication/awards, virtually every entry is selected. I tried a test once and wrote some nonsense and submitted a 'real' poem. Both were 'selected.' What is more, I still get emails asking me to 'submit' something for the next selection process. I may be wrong, but that is my read on it.

congratulations on the interest in your paintings. My experience with publishing is that you should at the very least get a free copy of the book you're published in.

Ugh...I had the flu 2 weeks ago and I still have a bit of it that just won't leave. Cranberry juice and echinacea helped me get over the worst of it though. Hope you feel etter soon. :)

And congrats on getting published. Yay you! :)
