Why I love my kids #22

There's a rule in my house my kids always follow: do not to touch my stuff. Pretty simple. The exception to this rule is of course, when I let them touch, borrow, or otherwise use my things -with my permission. (ie. Kiki uses my paints, BlogBoy uses my books...)

For years I've had Magnetic Poetry kits splattered all over my fridge. My kids are allowed to use these, of course, as long as they tell me first -so that I may tell them which are poems they are to leave untouched, all other words are game (not currently part of a work-in-progress). However, my son must have been nervous or preoccupied, because he forgot, and completely erased two poems of mine which I had not had the opportunity to write down yet. Yes, I was a little upset, because I'd been working on those for a while. So, what did I do? I told my son to fix my poems.

And he did. Here's what my son mused:

BlogBoy Muses

My son's heart and mind mused of beautiful things. Makes his mommy proud.

He seems like such a great kid. Of course... that stands to reason seeing what a great mom he has! ;-)

(Raehan has a link to the Magnetic Poetic Game - so do I!)

Great words - what a gifted son.
Cheers.

Beautiful. An artist's heart in that one. :)

Hello... I am here via Vicki (Outside In). And yes, I've been forced to blogroll you due to the absolute loveliness of your site, both words and photos.

AW! I'll just bet you like it even better than your original, doncha mom?

Lovely! There's something about having a limited number of words that keeps things simple and clear. His spirit shines through.

I have those magnetic words two (hidden away with my brand new box of crayolas .....mine all mine....) Quite a profound poet you have. I love the picture of the words, it adds another dimension to the art.

okay, that rocked... time to change your rules!
the child has become the teacher...

Just like all the other's said, he's very impressive! Makes me want to get some magnetic poetry of my own (although obviously it wouldn't be as good)!

I bet it made you feel at least a bit better about losing your poems. :)

my rules go like this:

if you touch my stuff, don't leave chocolate fingerprints...
if you take my batteries, leave the compartment open so i don't look stupid when i try and use it later at the grocery store/gym/work...
if you break my stuff, hide it somewhere i won't find it until i don't care anymore cuz i think i lost it...

simple rules, break them at your own risk ( i pay your allowance, i can take it away and spend it in front of you ).

Please let me echo the "very impressive" sentiment that your other visitors remarked.

Rhetorical question: Talented and creative, hmm, I wounder where he gets that from?

wow...just simply, wow.

great work, bb!

lucky you...I make a kit myself, but I can't get my husband to play along...and create beautiful poetry to woe my soul...

Ahh, yes, very much something to be proud of. What an insightful little man you've got.

He did a beautiful job. I can't wait til my kids are experimenting with the written word...it's one of my greatest passions and I look forward to sharing it with them.
