Why I love my kids #77
Because even when every teacher I saw told me she was "to little to be taught guitar", she rocked on to her heart and soul's desire. I took video and clapped in glee. Four years old in these pictures, singing and strumming to the Eagles, Hell Freezes Over - DVD.
She has never failed to add some music in my life -specially when I need it most.

My Father in law is an avid guitar player, and also teaches. He says at 5, they are ripe for learning. After she has her birthday don't let anyone give you any excuses.
My oldest daughter just received her first guitar from her grandfather and she will be learning as well.
Rock on little ones. Rock on!
P.S. I meant to tell you... I love the design. It's been a while since I've stopped by, and it's absolutely lovely!
Hi Zee! Michele sent me.
Great pictures!

My son started playing guitar at around 3.5. He had a 1/4 size guitar, and could only learn to strum, no chords, but he learned.

This entry reaffirms that artists and children of all ages should always listen to their inner voice - and ignore the naysayers who say they're too young or too whatever to do something.
If I had stopped pushing the envelope whenever folks told me I was too young, too inexperienced, too ethnic, too whatever, I would never have become a writer.
Shudder at the thought.
your daughter is lucky to have you to encourage her :) My parents encouraged me even when people thought it was "interesting" that I had to be boosted on two pillows to play the sitar. If they hadn't, I wouldn't have played with a full orchestra as a feature guest last year, would I?
she is BEAUTIFUL! And I'm so happy you took video of her playing - her kids are going to love that.
That's really sweet.
Ahh, what do they know. All children have music in their hearts and just need to be given the chance to let it burst through.
Good for her!
And excellent taste in music!
