It's summer, and the kids get to go to bed late.
Like midnight late. Except the night they were playing on the Xbox with dad -they went to bed at 4AM.
Last night, around midnight, my son ran into my room, opened the door to my bathroom enough so that I can here him (while I'm showering), to let me know that something I've checked on the TV is about to begin. He knows the importance of telling me something I want to watch is about to begin, that checking the program in advance is the only way I get to watch anything nowadays. He says, "It's The 40 Year-Old Virgin, Mom."
Please read the first sentence again.
After catching my breath and getting over the awkward moment, I tell him it's OK, that I won't be watching tonight, that it's nothing important, that he can finish watching what he was enjoying.
God bless his innoncence.

My little princess stayed home today, sick, again. I was called to school yesterday because she had a stomach ache and was running a fever. It almost goes without saying... it's a long night whenever a child is sick. *sigh*
She wakes up, cheeks extra rosy, as they tend to blush when she runs a fever, and smelling of sweet Princess Pink Bubble Gum toothpaste, hugs me, and asks for breakfast. She knew exactly what she wanted. It took me all of 2 minutes to scramble an egg for her, warm up a flour tortilla, get orange juice, Pedialyte and water ready and on the table.
"Kiki... breakfast is ready", I sing happily to her.
She looks straight at me, eyes wide open, and exclaims, "Done already?! Wow! I didn't know you were that good of a Mom!"

Because even when every teacher I saw told me she was "to little to be taught guitar", she rocked on to her heart and soul's desire. I took video and clapped in glee. Four years old in these pictures, singing and strumming to the Eagles, Hell Freezes Over - DVD.
She has never failed to add some music in my life -specially when I need it most.
